The John Deere DB120 seed drill was manufactured by Bauer Built Mfg. in Paton, Iowa. At the time of its release in 2009, it was the world's largest seed drill. It has attachments 120 feet (36.5 m) wide and plants 48 rows 30 inches (760 mm) apart.
The planter is supposed to sow 90 to 100 acres (0.40 km2) per hour at ground speeds of 5 to 5.5 miles per hour. This means that in a 12-hour working day, she will sow almost two plots of land. John Deere claims that this drill is 30% more productive than their 36-row DB90 drill. To transport such an incredibly wide gun, the DB120 is folded into five sections. The weight of the seeder is more than 20 tons when empty and almost 24 tons when loaded. The DB120 model was released in a limited edition in 2009, orders were accepted for the 2010 season. The retail price was $345,000. In 2020, the base price on the John Deere website exceeded $500,000.
