The Ford GT is a mid-engined sports car produced by the Ford Motor Company from 2003 to 2006. Originally designed as a concept car for the centenary of Ford, it also had to recall the names of the cars from which its roots grew, such as the Mustang and Thunderbird. Camilo Pardo, head of Ford's Living Legends studio, was named GT's chief designer and worked under the direction of J Mays. Based on the design of the classic 1960s Ford GT40 race car, the car was sometimes confused with its predecessor.
