Lotus Type 49 v1.0 (0.38.x)

The Lotus Type 49 was one of the most important Formula 1 cars of the late 1960s. Based on the 3.0-liter Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine, it used the engine as a chassis carrier, an arrangement that was subsequently used in Formula 1 for many years. Jim Clark made his brilliant debut with this car when he won the 1967 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, scoring the first victory for both the Type 49 and the DFV engine.

The car weighed about 540 kg, developed a power of about 410 hp, working in tandem with a five-speed manual transmission and a layout strongly shifted towards the rear axle. By modern standards, it was a very simple car, but at the same time very extreme, built with minimal distance between the driver and the mechanical parts doing the work.

I tried to take into account the feedback from my previous jobs, mainly regarding the general setup, tire options, and usability. The basic configuration still corresponds to the era, but modern slick tires are also available as an option for those who want a more manageable version of the car.

Project Cars 2 for 3D models and sound

Note: Keyboard control is not recommended. This car requires smooth and precise actions with the brake, throttle, and steering, and keyboard controls provide very little modulation or feedback.
