Gigerwald – Life at the Dam
Welcome to the idyllic Gigerwald in Switzerland, located at the foot of the imposing Gigerwald Lake dam, surrounded by a breathtaking but challenging alpine landscape.
This farm combines traditional agriculture with modern technology and requires your full attention.
At its heart is an old manor house with a traditional hotel, inviting you to stay and preserving the charm of bygone days.
Just a few meters away, a modern cowshed with the latest equipment for drying round bales has recently been put into operation – a symbol of change and progress in the valley.

Agriculture is completely focused on pastures: organic fertilization, mowing, felling and collecting round bales are the central elements of your daily work.
Arable farming does not play any role in this Alpine region – instead, efficient work in steep meadows is key.

The map shows the possibilities for production and processing:

Water can be taken directly from the surrounding streams, but the easiest way to do this is from the hydrant in front of the Gigerwald Mountain Hotel.
The terrain requires special attention: scree and small stones, especially in the fields, can be crushed into usable crushed stone with a jackhammer and recycled at a cement plant.

The extremely steep terrain presents a real challenge – both for you and for your equipment. Precision, planning and proper equipment are the key to success.
