**AltHistory PiperTown** is a large, highly detailed 4x scale map for Farming Simulator 25 inspired by the real landscape and rural farming areas of the Missouri region.
This map is designed for players who enjoy large, realistic fields, heavier machinery, customizable traffic, detailed towns, and long-term farm development. It is not intended for light or low-end PC versions.
Map size and performance information
- **Map size:** 4x
- **Terrain:** realistic 4096 x 4096 terrain base
- **Tree count:** over 126,000 trees
- **Traffic:** own autonomous traffic system
- **Detail level:** Highly detailed rural/urban environment with custom roads, farms, fields, and landscapes
Important note about performance
This is a resource-intensive map.
Farming Simulator loads a large amount of map data globally, regardless of whether the player is looking at a specific area or not. Because of this, performance is highly dependent on the processor, graphics card, RAM, storage speed, graphics settings, and active mods.
Weak computers may experience issues.
For the best results, use a mid-range or high-end gaming computer and reduce graphics settings such as object draw distance, vegetation draw distance, and shadow quality if necessary.
AltHistory PiperTown does not use a simple, universal land pricing formula where every hectare is worth the same amount.
The prices of fields and farms have been intentionally adjusted based on what the player is actually buying.
Empty fields
Fields without buildings or agricultural infrastructure are priced lower because the player is essentially buying productive land.
Established farms
Properties with established farms, buildings, yards, animal pens, storage facilities, or other infrastructure are priced higher.
This means that a farm plot can be significantly more expensive than an empty field of the same size, as it includes more than just land.
Example
The most expensive object is a large dairy farm, which costs about **$5,966,741** because it includes dairy production, buildings, infrastructure related to cows, and land.
This is done to give players long-term development goals, rather than making every field feel like the same universal purchase.
Development Philosophy
The map is balanced around a practical farming development cycle:
1. Harvest on the current land.
2. Covering operating expenses.
3. Transplanting or preparing for the next harvest.
4. Accumulating profits.
5. Buying the next field or farm.
6. Expanding equipment and operations over time.
The goal is for players to develop naturally without feeling like the card is giving away money too easily or unfairly punishing them.
The map has been tested with the assumption that even on more difficult economic settings, the player should be able to harvest, transplant, cover expenses and still save money in the account.
Starting equipment
PiperTown starts the game with serious equipment, as the map uses larger and more realistic fields.
Starting equipment includes **big red machinery, if it is not red, leave it in the barn**.
The fields are not as small as in the base game, so the initial power of the equipment is set intentionally. This map is designed for larger equipment and large-scale farming.
Fields
- Large realistic field layouts
- 52 fields in total
- Fields vary greatly in size, price, and purpose
- Some fields are bare agricultural land
- Some fields are part of existing farms or estates
- Field prices reflect the value of land, buildings, and infrastructure where applicable
Field testing
The fields have been tested in a full work cycle:
- Harvesting
- Making hay
- Tilling the soil
- Testing the behavior of AI workers
- Testing field development and income
- Checking the ability of players to progress by purchasing additional fields over time
Notes on AI workers and field status
During development, some fields were initially created based on plowed terrain. This resulted in the Giants AI sometimes detecting a field but mistakenly reporting that work had already been completed.
To fix this issue, a field rebuilding process was used:
1. Tracing the shape of the plowed field
2. Rebuilding the polygon definitions of the field
3. Resetting the land condition from plowed to grassy/by default
This allows the game to generate and read field states more correctly on new saves.
If you encounter a field where the AI refuses to work despite the field appearing correct, please provide the field number and attach the log file.
Custom Traffic
AltHistory PiperTown uses a custom offline traffic setup rather than relying solely on the basic traffic behavior on the map.
The traffic was designed with the map's road network and rural/urban environment in mind.
Terrain and Roads
The map uses a realistic terrain inspired by the local area.
The roads and landforms have been designed to look more natural and not like a flat |
